About Us
In 1992 a small group of people in Crossville, Tennessee saw the need for a pregnancy center. The increase of unplanned pregnancies created a need for pregnancy options information and resources. Plateau Pregnancy Services began as a 24 hour hotline operated out of Crossville's First Presbyterian Church. In June of 1993 PPS opened its physical location on Walker Hill Street. Dr. and Mrs. Dale Perrigan graciously allowed PPS to use this facility rent free. By our 10th anniversary in 2003, PPS was seeing more than 350 clients a year. This number has increased each year, with over 500 clients in 2006.
In 1999 our abstinence education program consisted of two volunteers teaching in eight schools. Our 16 "Worth Waiting For" abstinence educators now teach in 24 schools in three counties and during the 2006-2007 school year touched the lives of 5.297 students. In 2001 our post-abortion healing ministry, "Restoring Your Heart," was launched and several women have completed the "Forgiven and Set Free" Bible study. In addition, since 2005 we have partnered with another pregnancy center to offer semi-annual post-abortion retreat at a beautiful center located near the Smokey Mountains.
Because we want to remain on the cutting edge of pregnancy care ministry, PPS is affiliated with several organizations that assist us in upholding high standards of care and excellence in the delivery of services. They are:
- CareNet
- NIFLA
- Focus on the Family
- American Pregnancy Association
